Each year, our Chuckwagon Cooking Competition attracts dozens of authentic chuckwagons to the Heritage Center.
Our greatest value to the community, the region and nation is helping history come alive, especially for children. We operate one of the most outstanding educational programs in America. "Making History With the Arts."
Thousands of students each year have benefited from the integrated arts approach to teaching by making learning fun. "Making History With the Arts", provides instruction in the P.A.S.S. skills in visual arts and music. The innovative program earned high honors when the Heritage Center was named by "Great Expectations", the first non-profit in history to have an educational program attain the certification status of Model Program for 2005-2006, 2007-2008-2009. The Oklahoma Museum Association named, "Making History With the Arts", the Outstanding Education Program Award for 2006 and the DVD Where Learning is Fun received the Outstanding promotional for 2008.
