"Chuck away, come and get it"

The chuck wagon cook was king. He was usually called "Cousie, or "Cookie". The men's morale depended on having a hot meal waiting for them at each new campsite. In addition to preparing meals, Cookie was also barber, doctor, banker and sometimes referee in case of an argument. The cowboys� sat on the ground and ate their bacon, beans and biscuits from a tin plate.
